Ahhh…Netflix. It has been my family’s go-to for family movie night since 2015. My kids love Netflix for all of their favourite animated shows (Danger Mouse, Project MC2, Dragons: Race to the Edge), but for me it was always about the movies.
That is, until Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life.
You see, Gilmore Girls was my favourite show – ever. It was the series I watched religiously during my pre-children years… you know, when I had time to watch tv. It was definitely binge-worthy but, back then, that meant saving up a bunch of shows on my PVR – and I could never be that patient!
So when Netflix announced that they were bringing back my favourite fast talking mother-daughter duo, I was thrilled.
That was the first show I binge-watched, and it wouldn’t be my last!
More Binge-Worthy Shows
It all began when my husband was away at a weekend hockey tournament. I had two gloriously free nights – just me, the dog and a glass of wine. I decided to try something new and that’s when I remembered The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. It was the show all my friends were talking about last year, so I figured it must be good. After all, friends don’t let friends watch bad TV! (Was it binge-worthy, though? That was the question!)
At the time, I had no clue that Tina Fey (of whom I’m a BIG fan!) is co-creator of the show. Was I under a rock that whole time?!
Needless to say, now that I’m hooked, I’m waiting with bated breath for the third season to start. I foresee some binge-watching on May 19th. (Apparently, Titus is over pinot noir and going full-on lemonade… stay tuned! And clear my schedule!! 😉)
I watched the first two episodes of the new One Day At A Time last week… it’s funny! There’s a chance it could become a new favourite.
Truth be told, I’m kind of glad I binge-watch these shows on my own. That way, there’s no “cheating”… and they remain my guilty little pleasure!
