When I was young, I loved the arts – music, painting, drawing, acting – you name it. I had big dreams of someday having a career where I could spread my creative wings doing a job that didn’t feel like, well… a job!
I’m lucky enough to say that I spend a lot of my time doing creative work. Maybe not the exact type of work I had envisioned, but I’m grateful to be able to do something I love, and I want my kids to have that chance too.
Kids Dream Big
At the ripe old age of six, my son has big dreams. He already knows that he wants to be “a gamer”. (Gah!) He is Minecraft-obsessed and would love nothing more than to create ‘mods’ (don’t ask… I have no clue what they do) and fun, new games to share with his friends. Everything is moving at the speed of light, so who knows where technology will be when he’s ready to attend university?
Then, there’s my 9 year old. From the moment she could dress herself, she has been a master at role-play. She would don her best princess costume – fully accessorized with a tool belt, sparkly shoes and a train conductor’s hat – then proceed to play with her Thomas train set for hours on end. I loved how fearless her choices were, and how her dreams reflected her many – and varied – interests.
Not much has changed since then; she is still the same confident, fearless girl, with dreams as big as her imagination.

My younger daughter has dreams of being a ballerina at this point of her 4-year-old life. All She loves to dance around our house in front of her captive audience and already tells us she does not give out autographs. This prize would be great to put towards this dream.

I love that! Obviously, you’ve instilled in her an admiration for the men and women who helped her when she was a babe. They are definitely heroes, and are to be commended for the work they do. Dream on, Little One! ๐
