If you’re a fan of musicals (Frozen, anyone?), then you’ll probably love the most recent DVD my family had the chance to review – Strange Magic.
Available now On DVD, Strange Magic features popular songs from the past 60 years and is a classic tale of broken hearts and good vs. evil.
Synopsis
The Bog King is a love-scorned villain who has outlawed love potion (and the primroses needed to make it) ever since his heart was broken many years ago. Through a zany series of events, he meets Marianne, the smart, industrious fairy princess who is also down on love, and thinks he may have finally found someone who understands him. But can their embittered hearts soften enough to take another chance on love?
Review
This film, with its beautiful animation and effects, was a fun ride for the adults, who loved the musical walk down memory lane, and held my eight-year-old daughter’s attention, too. She’s a huge fan of anything that she can sing along (or dance) to, so this came as no surprise!
My five-year-old son, however, couldn’t follow the movie as easily, owing to the fact that much of the dialog was conveyed through music. In turn, I’d recommend this movie for older kids and adults.
