My daughter read our special story this year… what a fantastic reader! |
This year was especially memorable because both kids helped decorate the tree. Last year, my little guy tried to help… but the stress of a three-year-old hanging breakable ornaments was, well… stressful!
In the past, I tried to capture my family’s Christmas memories on a point-and-shoot camera, but I’ve never been able to get a good picture of the tree all lit up. The lights always looked fuzzy and blurry, making the images less than desirable. This year, however, I was able to take all of the shots I wanted and they all turned out, thanks to my trusty Nikon D3300 DSLR. I got a new zoom lens, too, which allowed me more range than my 35mm portrait lens.
Here’s a little glimpse into the sights and sounds of my family’s Christmas this year…
Getting a lift to put the angel on top of the tree |
Mistletoe… the perfect excuse for a kiss! |
Some of my special ornaments |
We are huge fans of the movie Wall-E, so this is one of the kids’ favorites |
My kids love seeing this vintage Christmas village at their grandparents’ house every year! |
All of these mementos and special traditions are the icing on the cake at Christmastime.

Wow. You truly capture Christmas in your decorations and your pictures. I love that both kids helped you decorate the tree this year. I can only imagine how strssful it must have been last year. I also love that you grab an ornament from your travels. I need to do something similar for our travels.

Thanks, Maya! To me, it's the little details and mementos that make Christmas special (aside, of course, from sharing it with my family and friends!). I love capturing all of it. Happy travels to all of you in 2015!

Thank you! I like to zone in on the little details… things my old camera would / could never pick up! 🙂
