Family Traditions… and The Best Pizza Ever!

There’s nothing I love more than creating family traditions that everyone looks forward to. In our house, one such tradition is Friday family movie night. That’s when we have pizza, watch a movie and snuggle in with popcorn. It truly is the perfect way to end the week.

While we love ordering pizza from our favourite pizzeria, it can be expensive… and hard on the waistline. In turn, I often make pizza at home, and the kids help with the toppings and spread the sauce. It becomes a family affair and adds to the fun of the evening. (Tip: I always sprinkle garlic powder and basil on the sauce.)

This week, we made our pizza with a new kind of cheese – Mozzarellissima, a new stretch mozzarella that makes pizza out of this world! (I’m looking forward to using it in my lasagna, too!

Mozzarellissima has a lovely buttery taste, and stretches like no other. I could tell the minute I started grating it… it’s definitely different than my usual mozzarella. My daughter couldn’t resist sneaking a few handfuls while we were making the pizza, so you know it’s good!

We couldn’t help but take a peek at the pizza in the oven.  Mmmm… it smelled so good!

It tasted great, too… especially when paired with a lovely glass of wine. 😉

As you may know, I’m a deal hound, so when I heard that I could get $1 off Mozzarellissima with the purchase of Mezzacorona Pinot Grigio or Leonardo Chianti (look for the bottles with special tags) at the LCBO, I figured I’d give it a try. I’m a real sucker for Chianti, so red was the winner! This promotion is available until the end of the month… perfect timing for holiday entertaining.
