Welcome to the second annual Fab Frugal Mama Holiday Gift Guide! If you’re looking for toy recommendations, you’ve come to the right place. (There’s also a little something for Mom at the end… HINT: there’s a beautiful giveaway, too!)
My kids have worked hard making their lists and checking them twice. A lot of their favorite brands from last year make repeat appearances on this guide, so you know they’ve got staying power. I also had them help me come up with fabulous gifts for younger kids, so there are options for every age.
After much deliberation, here are the items that made the cut…
For Little Kids
Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Chair
This fun chair from Fisher-Price is the perfect gift to buy for a growing baby. With three learning stages and lots of engaging songs and activities that help toddlers learn numbers, letters, colors and shapes, this is a toy that educates, entertains and grows with a child.

Sew Cool Sewing Studio
My daughter is completely obsessed with fashion… she draws her designs, loves constructing Barbie clothes and can’t get enough accessories. So when she saw this Sew Cool Sewing Studio from Spin Master Toys on tv, she put it on her Christmas list. This was one toy we didn’t get to review, although I did see it up close at a preview a few months back and was impressed. The kit comes complete with a threadless Sew Cool Sewing Machine, Sew Cool fabric and supplies to create 9 projects, including a purse and stuffed characters. If you’ve got a creative, crafty DIYer at home, you’ll want to check out this innovative toy.

Kinetic Sand
If you’ve got kids that like to play with sand or clay, you know how messy they are to clean up. That’s why you need Kinetic Sand! It’s just as fun (if not more) and you don’t have any of the annoying mess. I’ve seen parents – myself included – have as much fun with this as their kids. Made of 98% sand and 2% polymer, it sticks to itself, but not to you!Nerf Rebelle Secrets & Spies Messenger (read the review here)
My Little Pony Equestria Girls – Rainbow Rocks Editions (read the review here)
Zoomer Dino
If your kids are bugging you for a dog (like mine!), this might just be the toy that makes them stop. I got to preview the Zoomer Dino a few months ago and it was amazing how interactive he was. Last year’s Zoomer the Dog was a hit here, too… so much so that my kids thought it would make a less fortunate child very happy, and they decided to donate it to their school toy drive. The Zoomer Dino would make a great addition to any family… with no obedience school or messes to deal with!
For Mom (or any fab woman in your life!)
philosophy Skincare, Fragrance and Bath & Body Products
Originally, I was going to make this year’s gift guide all about the kids because, let’s face it, we adults don’t need very much. Seeing our kids’ faces light up at the holidays is the best present ever, right?
Then I got acquainted with philosophy… and I decided it would be okay if I asked for just a few small things from Santa. 😉 (You know it’s good when Oprah loves it, too.)
I have honestly adored every philosophy product I’ve tried, so in my opinion, you really can’t go wrong with any of them. But, since we’re talking gift-giving ideas here, I think you’ll especially love the limited-edition holiday scents, which are to-die-for fabulous! My favourite is the sugary cinnamon icing, shown below.

Calvin Klein Reveal
I’m usually a sweet-floral perfume kinda girl, but have always had a soft spot for the kind of chic, wearable scents from Calvin Klein. (Remember Eternity? Such a classic!)
So when I heard about their newest scent, Reveal – which has a definitely sexier vibe than the others I’m used to wearing – I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ve worn it now for the past few months and, as it turns out, I love Reveal! This is a fabulously sexy scent that’s not overpowering. A great gift idea for any woman on your holiday gift list.
