Our 15th Anniversary Wedding: #NikonMOMents Part 2

October 3, 2014 by fabfrugalmama

Fifteen years ago, I married the love of my life. We exchanged vows in front of our favourite lake, under an old, beautiful pine tree.

It was perfect.

My kids love hearing the story of the day Mommy and Daddy got married. One day a few years ago, after hearing it for the 50th time, my daughter asked, “Can I be your flower girl, Mommy?”.  I had to explain that we got married before she was born, so she wasn’t able to be in our wedding.  To which she replied, “But, could you get re-married sometime soon?”

I thought that was the sweetest thing ever, so I promised her that when it was time to celebrate our 15th anniversary, she could be in the wedding. (Who knew that would come so quickly?)

Fast forward to a few weeks ago…

In honour of our milestone, we had a small vow renewal ceremony and my kids were eager and excited to be a part of it.
My daughter fulfilled all the flower girl (and bridesmaid) responsibilities beautifully and my son walked me down “the aisle”. From the wedding gown (yes, it still fit!) and shoes, to the flowers and decor, we recreated our special day so our kids could imagine what it would have been like 15 years ago.

Pretty shoes!
Our families reunited for the weekend to celebrate with us and it turned out to be an amazing time. The weather, while threatening at first, took a turn for the better right before our ceremony which, as you can tell, was outdoors! (Thank goodness; the pictures just wouldn’t have been the same if it had taken place indoors.)

As you can tell, some of these photos weren’t able to be taken by me, so I want to send a huge thank you to Danielle and Luke for capturing these wonderful moments with my Nikon D3300.

My kids love parties as much as I do… and couldn’t let this one go by without making a gift!
Party time!
Moet + Chandon – so fancy! My mother-in-law thinks of everything. (Thanks, G!)
Cupcakes adorned with our wedding flower – yum!

The funny thing about our “anniversary wedding” was that I thought I was doing it for the kids. But when both my husband and I got choked up during our vows, I knew that this was just as special for us as it was for them.

This was truly a family bonding experience and one I’ll forever remember.
