We Love Hearts for Hearts Girls® Dolls #FFMGiftGuide {Review & Giveaway}

November 14, 2013 by fabfrugalmama

My daughter loves dolls… every type of doll you can imagine. She dresses them, puts them to bed, has tea parties with them – you name it. So when we were given the chance to review a Hearts for Hearts Girls® doll, my daughter was super-excited.

When I first heard about Hearts for Hearts Girls dolls and took a moment to find out more about them, I was impressed. Here’s why…

Every Hearts for Hearts Girls® doll represents a real girl from a real place around the world. Each has her own story to tell and ideas about how to make life better for her family, community, country, and the world around her – and wants to make a difference. When you buy a Hearts For Hearts Girls doll, a portion of the purchases price is donated to children’s causes in countries around the world.

I’ve always felt that dolls are wonderful learning tools for children. They allow them to role-play and practice interacting with others. Hearts for Hearts Girls are the perfect way to take that idea one step further, by making children conscious of other cultures, too.

When Consuelo arrived a few weeks ago, my daughter loved that she was from Mexico. She boasted that she could speak Spanish to her (thanks to watching Dora the Explorer!) and was eager to introduce her to the other dolls.

Once my daughter started playing with her, she immediately mentioned how much she liked Consuelo’s outfit, and the array of ways she could be positioned. Because she has “joints” at the shoulders and hips, she can move a lot more than similar dolls on the market. She also has a fully pose-able head, as her neck allows for a full range of motion. This was a hit with my daughter because she loves to role-play and put on dramatic shows, so the more movement the better!

The other thing that really appealed to both of us was the array of accessories that Consuelo came with. In addition to her adorable blue skirt and green blouse with an embroidered collar, she wore a sweet flower headband, hot pink patent-look shoes, bangle bracelets and earrings (my daughter commented on them right away!). She also came with a comb, a bracelet for my daughter to wear, and more.

If you’re looking for a lovely gift for a little girl this year, check out Hearts for Hearts Girls. There are eight different girls to choose from, each with her own unique look and story. And, at just $29.99-$34.99, the price is right. These quality dolls measure 14″ tall and are the perfect size to accompany any girl on her daily adventures.  You can follow Hearts for Hearts Girls Canada on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.

Win it!

One lucky FFM reader will win their very own doll, thanks to the kind folks at Hearts for Hearts Girls Canada!

    I'm from the US. So… NOT entering this contest. I own all the current H4H dolls. They are beautifully made and the doll / small book about her life and dreams and who she wants to help…make any Hearts4Hearts girl doll an affordable quality learning toy for a young girl. See the Hearts4Hearts canada website for outfits,dolls, follow the Hearts4Hearts Facebook page (for announcements, info) – and also check Pinterest for a few free patterns.

    I researched the Big Doll market in summer 2013. Found…that while American Girl has – partly – backed away from their wonderful Historical Girl/Doll combo, Hearts4Hearts dolls is perhaps the best doll/book current combo I've seen. Each girl faces some challenges; each girl comes from a different part of the world, and Hearts4Hearts girls are PREDOMINANTLY NOT white (or only partly white). I'm from a mainly fairskinned blue eyed family…mostly blond at least as children…which is BORING to me. So nice to find the beautiful multi color/multi skin shades of the H4H dolls… Also, World Vision, a proven quality charity, gets $ from the manufacturer for each doll sold. A good way to teach your daughter compassion for others. Note – I also found that studies by a few diverse orgs shows sorta what we suspected. The YOUNG girl is key to a thriving culture. Cherish, educate, protect her' – and she is MORE likely to reinvest in her community, offspring and enrich others. I think H4H girls do that at an affordable cost. So glad that Canada can get them now also!!!

      Thanks so much for your lovely comment! It's great to hear the experience / feedback of someone who owns all of the dolls – I'll be sure to pass your wonderful testimonial on to the company. And, thanks also for reading my blog!!
      P.S. I'm sorry this giveaway couldn't be open to the US as well. 🙁
