If there’s something I love, it’s a good deal – especially
at (ever-so-expensive) back-to-school time. But as a
work-at-home-Mom, it’s nearly impossible to find time to sift through flyers and websites for the best deals on everything I need. So when I found out that the newly
updated save.ca site offers not only a round-up of the week’s flyers, but also coupons and
lots of time-saving tools, I knew I had to check it out.

First off, I love the site’s search function. If I’m looking
for something in particular, I can find it fast. The search is site-wide,
which means that I get all of my results amalgamated on one page, and segmented
by type (i.e. flyers, coupons, etc).
Hallelujah! No more searching multiple sites for different types of
deals.

Then, there’s the “Top Deals” page in the Community section of the site, broken out by deal type (baby, pet
and grocery). This is especially helpful to Moms like me who are looking
for a round-up of sales on baby goods in one convenient place. And, like any good organizer will attest, unless you have a shopping list ready to go, you could easily get sidetracked while at the store. Save.ca has you covered there, too, with an easy “save to shopping list” functionality in all of their detailed product views, so you can print off your list before you go. You can even post your finds on social media, with easy Facebook and Twitter share buttons.

But, by far, my favourite part of the site – especially at
this busy time of year – is the 5-day recipe planner. It not only helps me plan meals, but provides
full recipes that are matched with the week’s best grocery deals. Normally, I’d
have to search for the food specials then figure out what to make with them,
but this genius tool kills two birds with one stone. And, parents of picky eaters – rejoice! The recipes in the meal planner are quite family-friendly {yay!}.
As a Mom of two kids with very particular tastes, I know how frustrating it can
be to come up with meals that children will eat. This tool provides dinner
ideas that, refreshingly, are not of the chicken-fingers-and-fries ilk – they’re adventurous enough to please parents, yet simple enough to be modified to suit picky kids (i.e. stuffed peppers for parents, ground beef filling for kids who don’t like peppers). And, if you don’t love any of the current week’s meals, you can access the meal planner archive for more great meal ideas. This fab tool simplifies dinner prep and saves
you time and money. Now that’s a great combination!

I’m already planning meals for next week. My favourite? Sesame

Love this posting Lisa and its perfectly timed for back to school. I am already panicking on lunch and two snack packing so anything to save money on groceries and help with dinner planning is perfect. Thanks for the great post! Shannon

Thanks, Shannon – I appreciate the feedback! I agree – I get "lunch anxiety" too! I hate panicking in the morning… much better to be prepared – and on budget, too!
