Great Mornings (and Family Fun) with #Kelloggs!

January 18, 2013 by fabfrugalmama

Just before the holidays, I received some goodies from my friends at Kellogg’s Canada. And, I’ve gotta say, in the hectic days leading up to Christmas they came in really handy. And, one surprise box of goodies put huge smiles on my kids’ faces!!

The first products I tried were their brand new line of Special K Flatbread Morning Sandwiches and protein shakes. Being the meat lover that I am, I was excited to see how their sausage and egg sandwich compared to my favourite (but *not*waistline-friendly) restaurant breakfast sandwich. Considering that the Special K version rings in at only 240 calories, I wasn’t expecting it to be nearly as tasty as its fast food counterpart. Alas, it was surprisingly good and very satisfying. While the flatbread was a tad bit dry, overall I was impressed with the product. It’s quick (just a few minutes in the microwave), convenient, yummy and the calorie count won’t leave you feeling guilty!

The chocolate Special K Morning Shake is also a delicious product but somehow, as with their (very addictive!) chocolate Krave cereals, it just feels wrong eating or drinking something chocolatey first thing in the morning*. But it’s okay…I found that I tend to consume these foods as afternoon or late evening snacks. They satisfy my sweet cravings, but aren’t a huge hit to the calorie count.

Next, we tried their new Mini Eggo waffles, which were also a hit…especially with the kids, who would’ve used them for mini flying discs if I let them. (Ah, kids!) Luckily, they decided they’d rather gobble them up instead!

The surprise box we received was like something Santa’s head baker elf would’ve put together!! It was chock full of everything we needed to make the coolest Rice Krispie treats on the planet! Cookie cutters in festive shapes, icing gels in red and green, Smarties, edible glitter and sprinkles to decorate them with…it was a treasure trove of delicious, crafty fun. My daughter was keen on taking “fancy” (her words) Rice Krispie treats to her class party, so this project was saved until the second last day of school. (As an aside, I love that these have become my easy, “go-to” treat to make for her nut-free classroom. Kids and teachers alike adore them!) As you can see from my pictures, we pulled out all the stops and had a blast decorating our Rice Krispie treats!

Kellogg’s has always been a part of our mornings, so I’m thankful to be a part of the Kelloggers Network and have the opportunity to try new products as they come out. I’m thrilled, too, that I’ve been able to make so many great memories with my kids. There’s nothing like food to bring a family together!

If you want to try out some fun Rice Krispie recipes and ideas, check out the Kellogg’s website – it’s full of easy baking projects suited for children of all ages.

*with the exception of my annual homemade chocolate chip pancakes – a Christmas morning tradition πŸ˜‰

I
received complimentary products from Kelloggs through the Kelloggers
Network in the hopes that I would share my them with my readers. As
always, I only write about products I personally believe in and like.

I really like Kellogg's products especially Special K. I have seen those Morning Shakes and I have no problem with having chocolate in the morning! A little secret…I have eaten potato chips for breakfast before! I think I will try those shakes and I love the flatbread breakfast sandwiches because they are so convenient to make. Thanks for the nice review of these products.
