The Perfect Last-Minute Gift – Sparked Discovery Kit Review & Giveaway

December 24, 2012 by fabfrugalmama

As a Mom of two busy kids, I love finding inventive ways to keep them entertained. My kids love crafts and play-acting, so when I heard about a product that combines those two things, I knew I had to try it!

Sparked is the brainchild of Andrea, a mompreneur, and Lara, a teacher, who were inspired by their children’s natural curiosity and love of play.
This British Columbia-based company creates activity kits that provide hours of open-ended play for children. Sparked Discovery Kits are delivered to your door and contain everything your child needs to create fun, themed crafts that, once completed, serve as props for dramatic play.

My daughter was among the first lucky kids in Canada to receive a Sparked Kit and, let me tell you, she had a blast!

The theme of her kit was Pirates, something both she and her little
brother enjoy playing. There were four crafts in the kit – a pirate hat,
treasure map, parrot pal and treasure chest. The instructions that came with the kit were clear and showed a list of supplies required for each activity. Most of the crafts
required minimal assistance, with the exception being the pirate hat. She needed my help figuring out how to fold it and, once constructed, it wouldn’t quite stay on her head. But that was
easily remedied with the addition of a little elastic. ๐Ÿ™‚

She
had a lot of fun decorating her treasure chest, creating her parrot
(whom she named “Salty”) and drawing her map. We had quite the treasure
hunt afterwards!

My daughter really enjoyed her Discovery Kit and especially loved that it came in the mail *just for her*! (What kid doesn’t love getting mail, right? ๐Ÿ™‚ I appreciated the high quality of the art supplies (Crayola washable markers, sturdy card stock and paper, etc.), as well as the convenience of not having to go out and source craft supplies and project ideas… it was all so easy, and educational, too! (Check out the final products, below…)

If you are in need of a very last-minute gift for the special kid(s) in your life, Sparked Discovery Kits are the perfect choice. An eGift Certificate from sparkedkids.com can be delivered to your recipient within minutes of placing your order! (Can you say “stress-free”?) Options include single kits ($24.95 each, shipping included), as well as three, six and 12-month subscriptions.

Check out their website, and follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest for more information on their Discovery Kits.

There’s More!

The kind folks at Sparked have generously offered to give away one Discovery Kit to a lucky Fab Frugal Mama reader! Giveaway is open to Canadian residents only, and closes on January 7, 2013 at 11:59pm ET.  Simply enter via Rafflecopter below.  Good luck!

my daughter loves learning and creating. and i think every kid loves getting mail. but i think my son who's a little younger would benefit from something like this. it's hard to get him engaged in activities, this might be something to pull him in. i love that there's options for siblings.
