I love clothes. I have ever since I was little. In fact, as a kid, my favourite toy was a set of Fashion Plates. So when I grew up and had a little girl, I practically squealed with joy at the thought of the cute clothes I’d dress her in.
Tiny Modernist Overall Dress, right out of the dryer! |
Fast-forward almost 5 years, and I can tell you one thing – my daughter chooses what she wants to wear, no matter how many suggestions I give her. And, to be honest, I prefer it that way… although, I’ll admit, some days I completely cringe at her pairings. To me, dressing herself is just one step towards independence. And who among us doesn’t want our kids to be independent? There’s just one hitch – she insists on wearing dresses/tunics and leggings every day. Yes, you heard me. Every. Day.
So, when I was given the opportunity to review the Overall Dress by Tiny Modernist, I hesitated. What if my daughter refused to wear it? Then, I thought about it… my daughter does have my genes, so maybe good taste would win out in the end?
Good gamble! From the moment the package arrived, I knew we had a winner on our hands. The fabric was lovely quality, the print was gorgeous, and the fit was perfect. My daughter loved it and wanted to put it on immediately. Once I explained I had to wash it first, she was annoyed, but decided she could wait until the next day. She promptly requested it in the morning and proceeded to wear it to school that day. In fact, she also insisted on wearing it to bed that night. I couldn’t argue with her enthusiasm for such a great product, so I let her!
What I love about the Tiny Modernist Overall Dress is that it’s styled to start out as a dress, and can continue to be worn as your child grows, until it’s a top. The A-line style works with all body types and it’s sleeveless, so you can easily pair a long-sleeved top with it in colder seasons, or wear it on its own in warmer ones, making this dress extremely versatile. This Canadian-made dress (yes, you read that right – made locally!) launders nicely and requires no ironing – unless you’re a stickler for no wrinkles, in which case a quick steam would do the trick.
In the end, my daughter and I both fell for this dress…it’s the one thing I don’t have to plead with her to put on! It’s no surprise, then, that it was awarded the PTPA Seal of Approval. Mothers everywhere, rejoice! Getting your daughters dressed and out of the house just got a whole lot easier. 😉
