Jewelry Envy

There’s something about a great piece of jewelry that just perks me up. Not only can it make any outfit pop, but it puts a spring in my step and a sparkle in my smile.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved jewelry. I think I got the gene from my maternal grandmother. She was never caught without a gaggle of rings, bracelets and, occasionally, a well-placed brooch. She was an avid traveler, buying jewelry in every country to which she traveled. A bracelet from Egypt, a ring from Italy… aaaahhh, what an inspiration! She was truly an original, known by all for her love of adornments and her unique style.

So when I stumbled upon Mildred & Doris Gift Studio, I was fondly reminded of her… thinking of the giddy child (me!) who loved to play in the treasure trove that was grandma’s jewelry box. The whimsy and colour of her collection is echoed in the wonderful pieces on their website, like this set of earrings and this retro necklace. (Can you tell I’m seriously jonesing for both of these?!? My LBD is just screaming out for these to jazz it up.)

All their vintage pieces are made from genuine vintage gems, with new findings, and all are made locally. Many pieces are even one-of-a-kind! Are you drooling yet?

Although I’ve been going on about their fab jewelry, they also have a lot of other great paper items, baby gifts and, for moms who are having one of “those days” with the kids, drink-related gifts (polka-dot flask, anyone?).
