As a mama who’s trying to be environmentally conscious, I appreciate finding resources and products that help me do just that. Here are a few that I love.
Environmental Working Group (www.cosmeticsdatabase.com)
This website came to my attention a few years ago and it’s been an invaluable tool for me… I can check the rating of any product I need (the database is quite extensive) and I have all the information I need at my fingertips.
CleanWell Hand Sanitizer
During the H1N1 scare, when it seemed like the only options included ingredients like alcohol and Triclosan, this all-natural hand sanitizer really stood out. Its germ-killing ingredient is derived from thyme, so the original scent is a little herb-ey (but totally fine… I use it all the time!). But, they have since come out with a whole range of scents – orange vanilla is my favourite. It’s approximately $5-6 CAD, and can be found at Loblaws and at many online retailers.
The Big Carrot
This store, located in Toronto, is a one-stop-shop for everything eco-fabulous! I’ve bought everything from stainless steel sippy cups to foaming hand soap, body lotion, deodorant and baby wipes there. The selection is endless and the expertise and helpfulness of the staff is amazing (thanks for your help, Alisha!).
If you live in Toronto (or are visiting), I highly recommend a visit.
